We bought Lyra from a client because she exemplifies our
breeding program and is likely to remain as a member of
our foundation herd. She is a fawn out of black with
great fleece demonstrated by her CV at 16.4%. I do not
have her first histogram but I am sure it was under 20
microns but is still impressive at 25.2 microns on her
4th fleece. Lyra is a great mom, attentive to all
crias. She is an easy keeper and gets pregnant easily.
Her first cria was a male with 17 micron fleece. The new
owner got him young but assures me they intend to use
him as a herdsire.
Lyra is currently due in August with our Cal
Thunder. You never know what color you will get but we
feel a grey is very possible. One thing for sure, it
will be soft and under 20 microns and True To Type in
appearance.
We will go off the farm to breed her to an outstanding
True Black herdsire, Zephyrson of Thunder Bay Alpacas,
son of
382 Peruvian Zephyrus. Zephyrsus has produced over 50
color championship offspring and is limited to 10
outside breedings at $7500 each. Zephyrson's grandsire is
the Royal Fawn that was bought for $600,000.
We believe Lyra is well worth investing in this type
of pedigree.
